In the United States, 10% of adults and children live with a speech-language disorder or delay. An untreated speech-language disorder can lead to difficulties in school, social isolation, and progressive learning disabilities. Intervention can have a significant impact on the quality of speech and communication—and the quality of life—for most patients and their families.
Our speech-language pathologists and audiologists are certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and are licensed by the Maryland Board of Audiologists, Hearing Aid Dispensers & Speech-Language Pathologists.

Gender-Affirming Voice/Communication Therapy
HASA is proud to offer an inclusive and welcoming environment for individuals seeking gender-affirming voice/communication therapy. This process begins with an evaluation to determine candidacy for the demands of voice therapy. Upon completion of the initial evaluation measures, appropriate vocal and communication goals will be established in order to best support gender identity and perception.
During weekly therapy, you and your clinician will discuss and practice functional exercises and lifestyle changes to raise or lower your vocal pitch in a healthy and efficient manner. Additionally, you’ll discuss non-verbal communication patterns (e.g., gestures, body language, facial expressions) and learn how to incorporate these behaviors into your daily interactions.
Speech-Language Services in the Community
Early identification of speech and language difficulties is critical to a child’s development and academic success. We welcome the opportunity to come to your school to perform speech-language screenings for your students. Results of the screenings indicate whether or not a speech-language evaluation should be conducted. Depending on availability, speech therapy may be able to be provided in the school setting.
