follow the leader

The Speech-Language Pathologists at HASA want to help you support your child’s goals at home! Follow along for some tips and tricks to help build your child’s communication skills.

Activity: Follow the Leader

  • Have your child follow you around the house or outside, then switch roles and have them lead!
    • Give simple directions with basic action words (“Let’s hop!”, “Let’s kick!”, crawl, tip-toe, clap, wave, march)
    • Increase the challenge by adding two-step directions (“First tip toe, then jump!”)
    • Add descriptive words to build vocabulary! (“Clap 3 times, then jump 2 times”. “Make 4 loud stomps, then 4 quiet tip-toes!”)
