Welcome
Summer is a quiet time in Baltimore. Families are away, the weather is warm. HASA’s Gateway School is back in session, but the rest of the organization has a little bit of time to regroup and finalize goals for the new fiscal year.
HASA just completed a successful outreach program at the Village of Cross Keys, where we sponsored the 2010 Cross Keys MovieFest and opened a very attractive (and well air conditioned) mini-clinic for hearing screenings, speech-language screenings and ASL classes. We helped more than 70 people understand what might be happening with their hearing or their children’s speech development and made many new friends. We sent our visitors home with excellent, professional advice, information about HASA, great giveaways and all of the chocolate they dared to take.
We are looking forward to a very exciting fall 2010. In October, we will kick off our CIRS Division’s 25 anniversary celebration by holding a screening of “SEE WHAT I’M SAYING,” a documentary about the experiences of four Deaf entertainers. We will continue our CIRS celebration by providing ASL interpreters to various venues during Baltimore’s Free Fall. Later in October, we will map the “Sound Print of Baltimore” and see if we qualify as a Hearing Safe City. You can help us map our city!
Please stay tuned to our website for news and information, or join our e-mail list for regular updates, coupons for clinical visits and devices, and invitations to HASA events.
I hope you are having a wonderful summer. Thank you for your interest in The Hearing and Speech Agency.
Sincerely,
Susan H. Glasgow, Executive Director, MA, CCC-SLP
