The Baltimore Soundscape Project
REGISTER NOW and win a chance at an iPod Touch!
Register here and you will be among the first to receive a special announcement that:
1. We are ready to begin accepting Early Bird submissions of sound for the project.
2. Tips and guidelines for recording sounds and directions for sending us your sounds.
3. Ways for you to invite friends to participate in this innovative project.
On 10/10/10, The Hearing and Speech Agency’s Baltimore Soundscape Project will begin mapping Baltimore’s unique sound print, and you have the opportunity to be a part of this historic event.
FIRST, WE MEASURE:
We will begin by creating a decibel map of our city—measuring the level of sound at designated points across Baltimore.
NEXT, YOU MAKE IT REAL:
Help us add real Baltimore sound to our decibel map--any sound, during a single timeframe, in a single place in Baltimore.
SELECTION: The first Charm City Sound Czar
Submit the coolest, most interesting audio recording and you will be designated the first “Charm City Sound Czar,” complete with your own set of business cards.
BRAINSTORM WITH US!
In the meantime, start listening! Start asking questions! Think about sounds you have always wanted to hear. Be inquisitive: Do the sharks at the aquarium make noises? What does a Chesapeake Bay clam boat sound like? What Baltimore businesses might have interesting sounds? Add to our growing list of interesting Baltimore sounds by submitting your own ideas right here!
