    • Meal Program Assistant at Gateway School

      Gateway School is searching for an experienced food service assistant to prepare and serve daily student breakfasts and lunches through our Federal Meal Program. This position begins on August 29, 2011.

      DUTIES:

      • Receive meals from vendor upon delivery in the cafeteria each day.
      • Verify/record meal items (breakfast and lunch) from Satellite Transporting Food Form
      • Complete Satellite Transporting and Food Temperatures Log and Food Safety Checklist.
      • Take temperatures for hot and cold foods.
      • Conduct inventory of all food and drinks for the meal program.
      • Maintain temperature log for all refrigerators and freezer. Inventory snack items to be purchased.
      • Discard expired items (milk, drinks, and food).
      • Clean Kitchen (refrigerators, freezer, tables, chairs, appliances, countertops, and floors) according to federal and state acceptable sanitation requirements.
      • Other duties as assigned by Food Service Manager.

      MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

      • Experience with ServSafe food handling safety guidelines
      • High School diploma
      • Strong interpersonal skills
      • Ability to work independently in a deadline-oriented environment
      • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written
      • Understanding of and experience with communicatively impaired children
      • Evidence of ability to work effectively with staff and students
      • Able to lift, push or pull a minimum of 25 lbs, stand or sit for long periods of time, and repetitive serving motion
      • This is position is hourly, part-time with no benefits.
