American Sign Language Courses
Ongoing
ASL ClassesAt The Hearing and Speech Agency we teach American Sign Language (ASL) using the highly successful and well-respected method, Signing Naturally. Signing Naturally is a non-verbal approach that is taught across the country, including at Gallaudet University. To encourage students to think in signs, our instructors and students avoid using speech in the classroom. Interpersonal communication, not simply learning signs for English words, is emphasized. Students focus on specific everyday interactions. For example, inviting someone to sit down, giving directions, or helping to solve problems. Classes meet once a week and are offered at various experience levels in the Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall.
